Any ideas for plan 2?

Pediasure has been part of bb’s catching up milk since he was 1 year old. I thought of changing it to other brands, as IT has gotten more and more costly. I stopped by at one of those Chinese medicine shops in Old Klang road, they have better price in comparison to big hypermarket. I took a serious look around for OTHER brands, so many varieties, all claimed to have the best nutritional values. Eventually, I bought a Pediasure and one Dumex Mamil Gold step 3.

Before bedtime, I made him Dumex milk, handed the bottle to him and watched him quietly. He put the nipple in his mouth, sucked once, pulled it out, stick out his tongue while staring at the milk and shook his head with a “Dun Wan”, pushed the bottle back to me.

UH OH! die liao, he can tell the difference. What do I do with the big tin of Dumex? Scratched head, “Ting ting” an idea came across, I can coax him to drink. I pretended to cry like him and mumbled while crying..”Mommy make milk milk to bb, bb doesn’t want, mommy sad, urrrrrrrrrrrr……..”. He actually came to me and said some consoling words with stern expression, which meant “mommy you stop crying first, I drink”. That is how I talk to him when he cries, now he is doing it back to me.

He sucked 2 times, pushed it back to me again. I pretended again, and he obliged too, sucked additional 2 times. After that, he refused anymore. I think he must also have noticed the Dumex tin on the table, he shouted “Dolphine” while pointed to the tin. Yes, there is a Dolphine pic outside the tin. Arrgh…I should have bought a smaller tin, but there were none. Sobbed in my heart, now what do I do with the Dumex? Gosh! Plan 1 has failed terribly! Any ideas for plan 2?

Maybe you can "hide" the milk ie use it for making pancakes, scrambled eggs and other foods that can put milk in it. Sometimes when my kids too jelak with their milk, I "cook" it and let them drink juices instead.

Ooo, you should have tried with a smaller tin first.

May be you can try again next week.. Make 3/4 of pedisure and 1/4 of dumex so that he doesn't realise it.. and add more after a couple of days. See if it works ;)

yeah they know the difference. i tried giving my kids pediasure. it's chocolate flavour. they doesn't like it. they are still sticking on with their progress gold. gosh and my midwife say all kids love pediasure. well ... not mine. Come to think about it .. its much more expensive compare to other brands.

Make milk shake for him, blend the banana with the mamil gold.

Actually Pediasure is very good to kids whose are fussy eater. If your bb's meals are balanced then you can think of changing, otherwise you better stick on it.

Most of the mummies here had given you good ideas! :P

my younger boy only drinks Karihome formula goats milk and it's almost twice the price of normal formula milk (it costs RM73.50 for the big tin).

i have countless attempt to change his milk but failed miserably. Not that he can't take other milk but he hates cow's milk. usually i will just give away to friends or colleagues that kids are drinking the same formula milk brand.

however, i kinda' like Hui SIa's idea of making milk shakes with the rejected milk...i'm inspire to continue trying to change his milk now.

i dont give ashley pediasure though. i give her snow and she loves it. I will be starting to transition her to the milk for 1 year olds as soon as she finishes her carton of milk for babies. we buy milk by the cartons at her paed clinic. it's much cheaper that way.

hmm...not sure what you can do with the milk bb doesn't like...i guess you have to gradually transition to the new milk - i agree with hui sia too...

hehe..huisia's idea is good. Hey, if BB doesn't drink, Mommy & daddy can drink mah :P.

I've tried like you as well, bought so many cans of diff milk powder when I wanted to change from Enfa (expensive). Faythe didn't have problem, but I had problem. Some were really diluted. So in the end I change it back to Enfa, but with the refill bag, cheaper lorr.

Sorry no plan B, but I got tips. Here the paed clinics do have lot of sample milk powder. Next time, maybe you can try asking them for samples. Once I got a whole plastic bag of different kinds of milk powder.

Story about Nezha 哪吒

Nezha has been a beloved Chinese folklore hero for centuries. According to Mythopedia,  哪吒 the Chinese myth is based off of the Hindu god,   Nalakuvara  ( 那羅鳩婆羅 .)  I remembered, he was a mischievous boy with mighty powers and caused trouble all the time.  https://youtu.be/QyPYkeRdwDQ

Dinner. Stranger.

LAST NIGHT was MIL’s birthday. We went for a simple dinner at Mt. Kiara, a Taiwanese restaurant. Bb was excited to be out as usual, trying to show off how to operate his Bob the Builder’s bottle to uncle Jo, Bil. He has been sipping water from that bottle ever since daddy purchased it, which is good, no more bottles in public. He also created rapport with waiter and waitresses there. There was a fat uncle got so fond of him and present-ed him a chopstick holder. (Like that also can. Hah!) Bb showed it to me, it was in the shape of a Japanese koi fish. I told him to return it to uncle, Sri told me he returned but uncle insisted he kept it. UR! Okay! “Well, then you can keep it” I told him. Later, he came to me telling he was scared. I asked him why, he told me the BIG BIG uncle scary. Actually according to Sri, that uncle wanted to carry him, he got scared. Mil told me this - Once a stranger offer to carry bb, he wanted to go with stranger, mil threatened him that if he goes, he will ne
